Google’s latest mobile operating system Android 5.0 Lollipop is the biggest Android update till yet.Android 5.0 Lollipop is a visual delight. The Android 5.0 lollipop is available on latest Nexus Devices and the update is now rolling out to Google’s existing Nexus 5 and Nexus 4, as well as latest Motorola devices and latest Samsung galaxy devices. The color and the design of the apps looks very lively. The design features a palette of bold and dynamic colors, which gives a pleasant new look. You will notice upon your first use of Android lollipop is the changes in the user interface, everything has sort of flow that makes the material design fantastic. Everything from the app drawer menu to settings menu has some animations.

Lock Screen and Notification
The lock screen now holds a short cut to the dialer and the camera application. Lock screen notification are now shown in the middle of the screen so you don’t have to swipe down to see the notification.
The design of the notification has mostly changed in the new Android L operating system, you can now view your notifications on your lock screen and do couple of things with the notifications such as you can swipe the notification to remove them or double tap to open them, this whole process is very fluidic.
The new notification is also actionable. When you get a new email you can delete it without leaving the lock screen and you can hit reply and go directly into the email compose screen and compose your mail.
Android lollipop OS has also redid some multi tasking. The multi tasking drawer turns each running app into Stack of cards and you can easily scroll down through the cards, the whole process look very fluidic. So, you can over view your apps through these cards. You can swipe the card and close your app or just click on it to open it.
The next feature that is quite interesting is the new guest mode feature built-in the android lollipop. This feature allows you to keep your phone in guest mode whenever handing over the phone to others. All you need to do is tap on the little user icon on the upper right corner where you pull the settings drawer and then choose option add a guest and then your device goes into guest mode, thus preventing all your precious social networking and Google accounts. This adds a new security feature in Android L.
Android 5.0 l comes with built in Chromecast feature. Although Chromecast app from Google let’s you screen cast from any device running Android 4.4.2 or higher. It’s right there in your notification bar, just tap on Cast Screen and begin screencasting and enjoy your favourite videos, music or what ever content from your device on larger screens.
Android 5.0 lollipop’s new keyboard design is refreshed along with app drawer and notification tray. The new keyboard looks very pleasant adopting a dark text on white background, without any visual separation of spaces within keys. The material design also enhances the theme of the keyboard and makes it looks good.
Supports 64 bit processing
Android 5.0 Lollipop is optimized to support 64 bit apps and architecture. It won’t make much of a difference to you if your phone doesn’t have the hardware to support it. The nexus 9 comes with with 64 bit chipset, while nexus 6 doesnot, it will gain much importance as more devices and apps becomes compatible with it. Google says the native Android apps (gmail,calender etc) now have 64 bit. It will be of more concern for the app development community to to gear up and code their to support this.
Android lollipop provides a better battery management.Using battery option in your setting you can get to kick your battery upto 15 %. You will now be able to manage your battery life by limiting your CPU usage, vibrations, light usage and also turn off your background operations, resulting in some additional power to your battery life. About 90 mins of additional life can be added, according to Google.
The calendar app has also been given a material design makeover. You can now add your appointments in the calendar which will be represented by pictures. You can now add events with pictures, location and much more . Further if have added an event with address, it will also show the street view image of the address, which is a great addition.
Users will enjoy a complete new visual renovate in the calculator application in android L. The new calculator app looks visually appealing. The landscape view of the calculator has been enhanced, you will find every button on single screen in the landscape view, separated into three different colors.
